Justin Bieber sat down with TODAY's Matt Lauer ahead of his Friday morning performance for TODAY's Toyota Concert Series. Bieber, ever elusive about his personal life, largely focused on the symbolism of his new album "Believe," which marks his transition from teen phenomenon to an adult artist. It's a scary position to be in, Bieber said.
Pop star Justin Bieber, who has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide, sings his hit, "Boyfriend," which is No. 1 on iTunes.
"I'm 18 and have a lot of insecurities. At the end of the day, me being in my position doesn't get rid of those insecurities," Bieber said.
"I think (this album) is about proving people wrong and going out there and making good music and going out there and performing better than everyone else," the pop star said.?"That's what I have to do to cross over (to being an adult performer). Or else I'll just be another teen heartthrob, and I want to be remembered."?
Justin Bieber sings the song that catapulted him to stardom in 2010, "Baby," for fans on Rockefeller Plaza.
One of the things Bieber is remembered for, unfortunately, is his propensity for running in to glass walls. Most recently, in May, Bieber ran into a glass partition while performing a concert in Paris, and suffered a concussion.?
"I'm pretty clumsy and I don't see glass walls," Bieber said, explaining the incident. "I think I wasn't wired to see glass walls."

Bieber assured Lauer that he's fine now. "I'm all right. I've had concussions, I used to play hockey."
